Cat Lauigan is a Filipina-American interdisciplinary artist and Oakland native. She is also one half of collaborative duo, BODYWORKBODYWORK and co-founder of CONE SHAPE TOP. Working with recycled fibers, natural pigments, sculpture and sound, her body of work investigates the parallels drawn between self and nature through reductive processes in hopes of finding the essence of materials and objects as metaphors for personal histories. Such investigations are formalized and fragmented into textile forms, wearables hand-made books, and sonic collages. She also creates wearable art pieces and collaborates with other artists by creating custom performance costumes.

Cat will be investigating the empathic language of 'Dream Tongue' from Jadoa Tai Alexander's 'Book of Storms' as a reflection of a new chapter of personal healing that has unfolded throughout the pandemic. These investigations will develop into naturally dyed studies, wearables, textile installations, and recordings of soundscapes.
